History

Meetinghouse Village began in concept with the 1919 inception of our sister organization, the Vernon Home, in Vernon, Vermont, which served retired ministers of the Advent Christian Church. With the success and expansion of that multi-function retirement center over the years, we decided to expand into eastern New England. In 1993, we acquired the Kittery site, which included a 13-unit apartment building already being rented to seniors. In 1995, we built a 12-apartment addition. The momentum continued with 1997's Meetinghouse Wing addition, providing 19 apartments, recreation and service areas, and the Somerville Chapel.

In 1999, we added "The Whitehouse," a 16-apartment building, to our flourishing community. All of this activity took place on our North Campus.

Most recently, we completed a development on our South Campus, complete with six cottage-style buildings housing a total of 26 apartments, a chapel and office space.
